How Can We Help?

How can we help you bring non-commercial Canadian music to life? We offer a number of resources, programs and services all designed to support the amazing work you are doing in this field. So please. Talk to us. Tell us how we can help you. It’s what we’re here for.

Regional Concert Partnership

If you plan to stage a concert featuring at least 50% of music by CMC Associate Composers working in BC, we want to partner with you. We are not a granting agency, but we can offer $1000 in sponsorship. And we will co-present the concert, ensuring it will be featured in an article on our website that is promoted through our social media channels, and we will help promote the concert through a Facebook Ad Campaign. Regional Concert Partnerships are also eligible to use the Murray Adaskin Salon.

The Murray Adaskin Salon

The Murray Adaskin Salon is our 45-seat, accessible, new music performance space. It features Murray Adaskin’s 7′ 1960 Heintzman Salon Concert Grand Piano, an excellent A/V system, and a street level entrance and lobby with bar and accessible bathroom. White it is not a pristine recording space, the Salon also has recording equipment available and can be fitted out with thick sound blankets that can help make recording possible.

The Barbara Pentland Music Library

The CMC’s online digital library is available free nation-wide and offers free 2-way delivery for up to 10 scores right to your door.  In Vancouver we are also host to the Pentland Library which hosts 25,000 scores. Sometimes there’s no substitute for coming in and being able to browse through shelves of 25,000 scores organized by instrumentation. The Pentland Library is a free public-lending library, offers free Wi-Fi and has desktop computers available for use.

The CREATE Board Room

Our Board Room can host 14 people, has A/V equipment, a large wall-sized whiteboard, and is available to use free during office hours Monday to Friday.

Our Artist in Residence Program

We make our Adaskin Salon and Pentland Library available to composers working on creating new music or to musicians bringing the music of BC Composers to life. Selected artists receive free use of the Salon for up to 20 days during office hours Monday to Friday, subject to availability. CMC BC also provides a letter confirming the residence in advance, which can be used to apply for Artist in Residence grants.

Print & Bind Service

Our dedicated Print & Bind service is designed specifically to make your music look good and provide excellent binding that makes page turns easy and is durable. We use high-quality paper provided by the generous support of C-Pac, and a state-of-the-art printer capable of producing scores and parts as large as 11″ x 17″.

Centrepulse

Every two weeks we broadcast our Centrepulse Enews to more than 1400 subscribers across BC and beyond who are interested in new music. Centrepulse features news, the latest recordings and video releases, composer opportunities, and contains the go-to concert listing for new music in BC. We also regularly publish news stories about our work and the new music ecosystem of BC on the news page of our website.

Videos

Our free video page offers more than two hundred videos featuring music by Canadian composers including Score Videos, Unaccompanied, Composer Documentaries, Readings and Workshops, Interviews, Livestreams and more.
