CMC BC is in the midst of a year-long revisioning project. It involves the broadest community consultation we have ever undertaken. Our  goal is to better centre our work — championing BC’s composers and the new music community that supports them — in Equity and meaningful Inclusion so that real Diversity is the true result.

We believe this will enrich our work, generate more energy and dynamism, foster more creativity and collaboration, and better serve our community of creators and performers. Final plans will be announced in the Fall of 2023.

In the interim, we are taking this opportunity to begin a transition away from producing everything ourselves towards more collaboration. Towards supporting, empowering, and promoting creators and performers. A concept of CMC BC as a resource centre that moves beyond the library.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the Osbertus Fund, held at Vancouver Foundation, we are offering up to twenty $1,000 sponsorships each year, available to Associate Composers and new music performers, ensembles, and presenters, to produce a concert featuring at least 50% of music by BC Associate composers, allocated regionally in the following areas:

City of Vancouver
Lower Mainland outside of Vancouver
Victoria & Vancouver Island
Thompson / Okanagan
North Interior / Caribou
Kootenays
Sunshine Coast
Gulf Islands
Northern BC

CMC BC will promote the concerts via our Centrepulse newsletter, our website, a Facebook ad campaign, and Twitter. In return we ask that the concerts are billed as co-presentations providing equal billing to CMC BC on programs, website page about the concert, and any promotional materials using our logo. Where possible, someone from CMC BC will attend.

While offering a source of new funds to areas historically deprived of new music performances and our help promoting concerts under this umbrella, this new paradigm of working has the potential to increase the number of concerts CMC BC presents each year, broaden our presence across the province, help us meet new people doing creative things, and help us better fulfill our provincial mandate and mission.

A specific number of sponsorships will be allocated to each area annually. Applications will be reviewed by staff as they are received until the funds for each area are committed.

To apply, please send a simple one-page letter to bcregion at cmccanada dot org, with the following information:
