The Music of Canada presented by Pacific Spirit Choir
3:00pm • May 10th • West Vancouver United Church 2062 Esquimalt Avenue, West Vancouver
.
Pacific Spirit Choir, a festival chorus that performs on the North Shore, is hosting its first ever all-BC
composers concert on May 10th, 3:00pm at West Vancouver United Church. Canadian Choral
Classics will feature works by composers who are either from BC or have lived in BC, including
Stephen Chatman, Alex Vollant, Allison Girvan, Corey Payette, Brian Tate, Matthew Emery and
others.
.
“I have always been proud of the music that comes from right here in British Columbia,” says
conductor Kevin Zakresky. “The variety of styles is seemingly endless.”
.

.
The performance will begin with Russell Wallace’s ubiquitous The Gift, which has been a welcome
song for Pacific Spirit in several of their recent concerts and other performances.
.
A highlight will be Imant Raminsh’s sprawling cantata I Will Sing Unto the Lord. Raminsh has been a
favourite of the choral community for decades. “Whenever I travel abroad,” says Zakresky, “I always
bring a few copies of Imant’s Ave verum corpus in case someone wants me to show them some
music from BC. There is nothing quite like it.”
.
The concert will feature tenor soloist Eric Schwarzhoff and pianist Geordie Roberts, whose own
House of God is on the programme.
