It is with great appreciation and affection that we announce the departure of much-loved CMC BC librarian Stefan Hintersteininger, who leaves us to join the UBC Library as a Team Leader in Language Services.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Stefan who has served Canadian composers, performers, and audiences with us for more than 10 years. He will be deeply missed by everyone. We congratulate him on this significant appointment and invite you to join us in celebrating his significant contribution to music in Canada.

Stefan is an Associate Composer of the CMC, a highly sought-after cellist, and a respected teacher. He has been a wonderful partner in planning educational programs and our concert series; was often sought out for advice on Canadian repertoire by conductors, performers, and composers from across the country; and has been a vital member of the CMC’s national library team.

He also prepared our weekly Enews Centrepulse, faithfully compiling comprehensive weekly listings of concerts featuring Canadian music along with any opportunities and calls for composers.

In his letter of resignation, Stefan stated that: “the decision to leave was a difficult one, and one that was not made lightly or easily. I will always care deeply about the CMC.”

He went on to state his appreciation for our “Operations Manager Dave McLaughlin, our BC Regional Advisory Council, our President & CEO Glenn Hodgins, our valued CMC colleagues nationwide, our National Board, Bill Orr and Greg Soone of our archival team, and the many members of our broader community of composers, performers, and lovers of Canadian music, for their terrific support and encouragement over the years.”

Stefan’s last day with us will be Thursday, January 31, 2019. I know you will all join me in wishing him every success in his new endeavours.
