The Canadian Music Centre in BC is excited to introduce our new BC Administrator, Heather Molloy. Heather Molloy joins CMC BC with a strong background in arts administration, having worked in a supervisory role in the box office at Bard on the Beach; as well as for Applause: Dinner Theatre; Vancouver International Film Festival; and the Old Auditorium for the UBC School of Music. She has been a member of the CMC since 2006 and joined BC’s Theatre Attendant program in 2017.
An ardent advocate for new music as a Mezzo Soprano, Heather has appeared with opera companies across Canada including Pacific Opera Victoria, City Opera Vancouver, Vancouver Opera and Re:Naissance Opera. Most notably, she sang in the Vancouver premiere of Bramwell Tovey’s opera, The Inventor; the world premiere of Missing, by Brian Currant and Marie Clement; and Stickboy by Neil Wisensel and Shane Koyczan. Heather also helped develop and sang in a workshop for the creation of a new Sign Language opera with Insideout Theatre.
She holds a Masters Degree in Opera Performance from the University of British Columbia and a Certificate in Deaf Studies from Vancouver Community College. She is looking forward to contributing her experience and her passion for new music and is deeply committed to the CMC mandate of community, equity, and inclusion.
Heather joins BC Librarian, Jordan Nobles, and BC Director Sean Bickerton; as well as Bill Orr and Greg Soone, who created and manage CMC BC’s digital archive of the history of Canadian music in BC; and a team of three Theatre Attendants currently learning the intricacies of the live-streaming and A/V recording system now built into the Murray Adaskin Salon: Robert Humber, Daniel Bartoni, and Ian Wright.
