The BC Annual Meeting of the Canadian Music Centre will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Murray Adaskin Salon at 837 Davie Street in Vancouver.

2016 was a truly memorable year for the Canadian Music Centre. Nationally the organization adopted a new Mission, to be the catalyst that connects you to the every-evolving world of Canadian musical creativity through performance, education, and promotion.

Here in BC the organization completely renovated its Vancouver Creative Hub, creating the Murray Adaskin Salon, a new 40-seat, black-box concert space; as well as opening a new Creative Hub in Victoria in partnership with the Victoria Conservatory of Music.

In addition, CMC BC has produced five documentary shorts, and a recording of Barbara Pentland’s The Lake in association with Astrolabe Musik Theatre and Turning Point Ensemble.

The April 18 meeting is open to the public. Anyone who has donated $125 or more to the CMC’s BC region since January 1, 2016 will be eligible to vote as a member of the CMC.

Those in attendance will be briefed by Regional Advisory Council Chair George Laverock and BC Director Sean Bickerton on the latest accomplishments of the CMC in BC. Bickerton will also address plans for the coming year including an early preview of the 2017-18 Adaskin Salon Concert Series.

CMC BC will present Financial Statements for the 2016 Fiscal Year, and BC Head Librarian Stefan Hintersteininger will present recordings and a minute of silence as a memorial for composers we’ve lost over the last year, along with an update on library activities.

New Regional Advisory Council members will be elected; and new officers will be elected at a brief meeting of the Council immediately following.

Please join us to help celebrate a truly remarkable year in the Canadian Music Centre’s history.
