Vancouver, BC – The Canadian Music Centre in British Columbia (CMC BC) is proud to present the Casse-Tête Festival with CMC BC’s first-ever Award of Excellence for their extraordinary contribution to Canadian music.
“We’re so pleased that CMC BC’s very first Award of Excellence is being presented to such an innovative festival,” said Sean Bickerton, BC Director of the Canadian Music Centre. “Casse-Tête has made an amazing contribution to Canadian music by championing leading Canadian composers, commissioning new works, and providing a platform for leading performers of new music to collaborate together.”
This past summer the Casse-Tête Festival presented François Houle, Jooklo Zappa, Cathy Fern Lewis, Rodney Sharman performing works by a number of leading CMC composers including Rodney Sharman, Rudolf Komorous, François Houle, Mark Hand, and Christopher Reiche among others.
“Their community outreach, and the degree of support they have garnered from the City of Prince George, are highly commendable. It’s important for people to recognize that extraordinary things are happening all across the Province of BC, not just in Vancouver,” Bickerton noted.
