Four of five 2017 nominations for Classical Composition of the Year are from BC this year, as are four of the five nominees for Classical Artist or Ensemble of the Year at the 2017 Western Canadian Music Awards.
Nominees for Classical Composition of the Year are: “Pots ‘n Pans Falling” by Edward Top; “Immersion” by Jordan Nobles; “Raven Tales” by Marcus Goddard; “Choir Practice, A Comic Opera in One Act” by Stephen Chatman; as well as “Magnetic North” by Carmen Braden from the Northwest Territories.
The four BC nominees for Classical Artist or Ensemble of the Year are Alan Rinehart, duo corvi, Standing Wave, and the Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra & Laudate Singers. Daniel Janke was also nominated for the honour from Alberta.
